Privacy Policy
Effective August 14, 2026
Parable is an interactive storytelling app for the web and iOS. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how to remove it. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we collect
- Account information. Your display name, email address, and which method you used to sign in (email and password, Google, or Apple). Guest accounts have no email attached.
- Optional profile details. Birthday, country, gender, where you are on your faith journey, and how you heard about Parable. Every one of these is optional, you can skip them all, and you can change or add them later in Settings.
- Your stories. The scenes generated for you, the choices you made, anything you wrote as a custom choice, your reading progress, and any ratings you give a story.
- Reading preferences. Font size and family, theme, line spacing, language, reading level, story mode, and your chosen companion.
- Profile photo. If you upload one, it is stored with your account. You can remove it at any time.
- Usage and generation records. Which parts of the app you open (for example starting a story, finishing one, or opening the Bible reader), and technical records of each story generation such as the model used, token counts, and whether the request succeeded.
Why we collect it
- To write your stories. Your first name, reading level, language, and the choices you make are sent to the AI service that generates each scene.
- To personalize what you read. Your profile details and preferences shape the tone, difficulty, and language of new journeys.
- To keep your library available across sessions and devices, and to restore where you left off.
- To improve the product. Usage and generation records are reviewed in aggregate to find slow, failing, or low quality generations.
Who processes your data
Parable relies on a small number of services, and each receives only what it needs:
- Convex hosts our database and handles sign-in and sessions. Your account, stories, preferences, and uploaded photos live here.
- Cerebras runs the models that generate story text. It receives the prompt for each scene, which includes your first name, your reading level and language, and the story so far.
- Resend delivers password reset email. It receives your email address only when you ask for a reset link.
- Google and Apple verify your identity if you choose to sign in with them. We receive your name, email address, and profile photo from those providers.
We never sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Your choices
You can view and change your profile details, preferences, photo, and bio at any time in Settings, and you can delete an individual story from your Chronicles. Deleting your account from Settings is permanent and removes everything tied to it: your profile, stories, scenes, preferences, ratings, companion memory, and any uploaded photo.
Children
Parable is written to be appropriate for all ages, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are a parent and believe your child created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Business transfers
If Parable is ever acquired by or merged into another company, your data may transfer to the new owner as part of that transaction. It would remain subject to the promises in this policy, and we would notify you before any transfer takes effect.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
